Virginia State Police looking for lost airplane door that prompted emergency landing

UPDATE: Virginia State Police announced the door was found in a farm field in Purcellville later on April 5. No injuries were reported. The investigation continues. Authorities are searching for the door an airplane that was reportedly ripped off causing an emergency landing. Around 9 a.m. this morning, April 5, Daniel O’Brien was flying near the Round Hill area of Loudoun County in a two-seater when the cockpit door was reportedly ripped off. The 63-year-old pilot was able to land the fixed wing single-engine aircraft safely at the Leesburg Airport without injury, VSP reported. The NTSB and FAA were notified. The former federal prosecutor Jessica Aber was found dead on Friday morning, March 22. Alexandria Police Department said officers responded to a call of an unresponsive woman in the 900 block of Beverley Drive—a residential neighborhood—and found Aber, 43, was dead. All five Fredericksburg City Public Schools were closed Friday, March 21, due to a wanted 16-year-old from Fairfax. Fasihullah Safar, who lives in Alexandria, was reported missing by his family on March 17, according to Fairfax County Police Department. On Wednesday, March 19, a school resource officer saw him at James Monroe High School in Fredericksburg. The school system said when the SRO approached him, he fled. ICE warns of taking immigration enforcement in DC & VA ‘extremely seriously’

ICE Washington DC warned it’s taking the immigration enforcement mission in D.C. and Virginia “extremely seriously.” That statement came along with the announcement that seven illegal aliens were arrested in Northern Virginia on Feb. 5 during a joint effort between the Washington DC divisions of ICE and the FBI in Annadale. Information from ICE show that one of those arrested in Annadale was previously deported, a 51-year-old Mexican national convicted of DWI in Prince William last April. One, a 22-year-old Salvadoran, had been apprehended before for illegally entering the U.S. in June 2019. Alexandria Police Department announced three juveniles have been charged for the Sept. 19, 2024, shooting on Wythe Street, an incident with three victims, including one who died. “This crime was planned, deliberate, and it was violent,” APD Chief Tarrick McGuire said during a press conference. VSP searching for man who led police chase, escaped via drainpipe

Virginia State Police are still searching for 38-year-old Victor A. Caneza who was reportedly involved in two crashes and a police chase in Fairfax on Monday before making a getaway. According to VSP, it was approximately 2:40 p.m. and troopers were working two accidents along Interstate 495 East near Eisenhower Ave when a third crash occurred involving two vehicles. A trooper assigned to the third crash asked the two vehicles to move from the left to the right shoulder as authorities attempted to consolidate all the crash scenes. VDOT is testing the ParkZen app at select parking lots in Northern Virginia and those who participate are eligible for a chance to win a $50 Amazon gift card. ParkZen is an app that shows the availability of parking spaces in real time. VDOT began testing the app last month. The hope is making it easier to find parking in commuter lots will encourage more people to park and carpool or take public transit. A 17-year-old male of Alexandria has been arrested and charged for shooting another teenager Monday night in Herndon. Shortly after 9 p.m. on Monday, Herndon Police Department announced Cavalier Drive was closed between Saber Lane and Third Street as police were on the scene due to a shooting. Yesterday, HPD announced the victim of that shooting was a 16-year-old male who got into an altercation with the suspect. The suspect allegedly shot the younger boy multiple times in the upper body.
