In an effort that’s over a month long and counting, Wythe County Sheriff’s Office said they have been targeting “large amounts of methamphetamine and firearms being distributed in Wythe County.” WCSO has been serving search warrants, making arrests, and has seized thousands of dollars along with thousands of grams of illegal drugs. 3 shot in Leesburg, Sterling man arrested

One arrest has been made for the Thursday evening shooting that sent three men to the hospital, Leesburg Police Department announced. It was around 7:48 p.m. yesterday when LPD responded to the 800 block of Edwards Ferry Rd. and found three men with gunshot wounds. All were transported to the hospital with injuries LPD described as non-life-threatening. This afternoon, as police were investigating, a report came in that individuals involved in the shooting were back in the 800 block of Edwards Ferry Rd. LPD said officers responded and detained two individuals. So far, Sylvanus Massaquoi,  a 19-year-old Sterling resident, has been arrested and charged with aggravated malicious wounding. 2 Winchester men killed in Essex crash, driver charged

A Winchester man has been charged for an Essex County crash that led to the death of two men. The single-vehicle crash occurred last Wednesday on Route 17. Martimiano Perez Linares, age 42, was heading northbound in a 2003 Dodge pickup that was pulling a small trailer, Virginia State Police stated. In the 5300 block of Tidewater Trail (Rt. 17) Linares ran off the road to the left, overturned, and his three passengers were thrown from the truck. Jose Euglogio Cruz Gomez, 61, and Wulfrano Cruz Gomez, 41, who were both also Winchester residents, died at the scene. Linares was entrapped. After his rescue, him and Jose Angel Romero Hernandez, the 36-year-old third passenger, were flown to the hospital in Richmond, VSP stated. Stafford man convicted for gun on YouTube, sentenced for another federal gun charge

At only 27 years old, Najee Lewis, aka Bebo, of Stafford was hit with another federal prison sentence today. In 2014, Prince William Circuit Court sentenced Lewis for two robberies committed two days apart. Seven years of his 10-year sentence was suspended, and he was released in May 2018, court records show. Less than four months after his release for the robbery charges, Lewis was caught with a 9mm Ruger displayed in a music video on YouTube, That firearm was reported stolen in 2018 and was recovered in October 2019, documents from the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia (EDVA) show. Virginia Beach Police Department is urging the public to help “secure justice” after a 15-year-old girl was killed and an 18-year-old male was shot in the 300 block of Edwin Drive Saturday night. According to VBPD, it was just after 8:30 p.m. when the first 911 call related to this incident came in. Officers arrived on scene and found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Richmond man found dead in Caroline County, Investigation underway

Federal authorities are working with Caroline Sheriff’s Office on the investigation of a Richmond man found dead last Sunday, May 26. A “startled citizen” called 911 at 11:47 that morning to report finding a dead person in a wooded area along Sparta Rd. near the intersection of Tignor Rd, Caroline Sheriff’s Office reported. By far, the most common complaint was hunting dogs on private land without landowner permission. Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources has opened public comment on two proposed hunting dog regulations to address hunting dogs on other people’s property. Murder suspect in fatal Prince George’s MD shooting arrested in Northern VA

A 22-year-old Stafford man who was wanted for murder charges in Maryland was arrested yesterday in a joint operation between Stafford County Sheriff's Office and Prince George's County Police Department's Fugitive Unit. On Sunday, May 19, at around 1:45 a.m., PGPD said its officers responded to a shopping center parking lot in the 6400 block of Marlboro Pike where there was a car meet. The officers found 26-year-old John Phipps of Waldorf, MD in a vehicle suffering from gunshots. He was pronounced dead a short time later, PGPD stated. Another unnamed man was also shot, but his injuries were not considered life threatening, the department added.
