Teen killed, another injured at Mount Trashmore Carnival in Virginia Beach

Virginia Beach Police Department is urging the public to help “secure justice” after a 15-year-old girl was killed and an 18-year-old male was shot in the 300 block of Edwin Drive Saturday night. According to VBPD, it was just after 8:30 p.m. when the first 911 call related to this incident came in. Officers arrived on scene and found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were taken to the hospital. The 15-year-old girl later died from her injuries and the 18-year-old was in critical condition, VBPD stated. Police say based on the information they currently have, it appears a fight broke inside the Mount Trashmore Summer Carnival. VA ABC hosting grand opening today for new Northern Virginia store

Virginia ABC is holding a grand opening ceremony today, May 29, for its new store at 825 S. Washington St. in Alexandria. This new VA ABC location, Store 119, is in the South Washington Street Shopping Center. According to the Authority, it’s 3,700-square-foot store and will offer more than 1,500 different products. Store 119 hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. Federal authorities are working with Caroline Sheriff’s Office on the investigation of a Richmond man found dead last Sunday, May 26. A “startled citizen” called 911 at 11:47 that morning to report finding a dead person in a wooded area along Sparta Rd. near the intersection of Tignor Rd, Caroline Sheriff’s Office reported. Virginia DWR reported that, during the past year, 2002 of 6128 total calls for service for hunting complaints mentioned dogs . By far, the most common complaint was hunting dogs on private land without landowner permission. Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources has opened public comment on two proposed hunting dog regulations to address hunting dogs on other people’s property. GPS tracking rule One new regulation DWR has on the table would require GPS tracking for hunting dogs used to pursue deer and bears. According to the proposed language, GPS tracking would be required for any unrestrained dog from casting until recovery. A 22-year-old Stafford man who was wanted for murder charges in Maryland was arrested yesterday in a joint operation between Stafford County Sheriff's Office and Prince George's County Police Department's Fugitive Unit. On Sunday, May 19, at around 1:45 a.m., PGPD said its officers responded to a shopping center parking lot in the 6400 block of Marlboro Pike where there was a car meet. The officers found 26-year-old John Phipps of Waldorf, MD in a vehicle suffering from gunshots. He was pronounced dead a short time later, PGPD stated. Red Onion prisoner hit with murder charge for cell mate’s death

A grand jury in Wise County charged 36-year-old Julian Leon Mitchell with aggravated murder for the death of his cell mate. On August 23, 2023, corrections staff found Jowell Legendre unresponsive in his cell at Red Onion State Prison, VADOC stated. The staff performed life-saving measures and Legendre was transported to Dickenson Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Mitchell shared the cell with Jowell, and according to VADOC, he told security staff Legendre fell from the top bunk. After an investigation, VADOC presented the evidence to Wise County Commonwealth’s Attorney, and an indictment was filed last week, on May 15, VADOC reported. Leesburg Police Department announced arrests in two daytime robbery- assault cases that occurred within about 24 hours. Last Friday, at about 5:22 p.m., LPD said officers reported to the Sheetz at 915 Edwards Ferry Road NE, where “an area man” reported that a known male assaulted him, took his cell phone, and ran off. LPD said officers canvassed the area and found the suspect in the unit block of Plaza Street NE but when he saw police, he ran. That suspect, Fidel Ordonez Molina, an 18-year-old from Leesburg, was caught after a short foot chase, LPD reported. Last month, VSP and Florida Dept. of Law Enforcement issued a joint statement noting that Fragale has been linked to Leesburg, VA and Kissimmee, FL. He is facing 10 felony warrants in Loudoun County, VA. Half are for possession of child porn and half are for reproduction of child porn.
