Virginia State Police have identified and charged the driver involved in a high-speed crash that left three people seriously injured and a vehicle engulfed in flames late Saturday night in Northern Virginia.
The incident occurred around 10:52 p.m. on September 28. Troopers received reports of multiple vehicles driving recklessly on Interstate 495 south near Braddock Road.

As troopers responded, a 2020 McLaren 720S—part of the group allegedly driving erratically—sideswiped a 2000 Honda Pilot, causing the SUV to overturn several times.
The driver of the Honda Pilot, Rosa M. Rivera Orellana, 37, of Fairfax, was wearing a seat belt but still sustained serious injuries, VSP reported. She was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Moments later, the McLaren struck an object on I-495 and vaulted over the guardrail, landing on South Van Dorn Street below.
The impact ejected both occupants and ignited the vehicle. Two Virginia State Police troopers—one a recent graduate of the 143rd Basic Session— pulled the passenger away from the burning wreckage.
The driver of the McLaren, George W. Shuey IV, 36, of Burke, was not wearing a seat belt and suffered serious injuries. His passenger, Eren Demir, 23, also unrestrained, was, likewise, seriously injured.
VSP reported that Shuey has been charged with reckless driving. Additional charges are pending as the investigation continues in consultation with the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office.
