Woman arrested in Kentucky with baby missing from Virginia

Cedar Samuel Smith, a 10-month-old baby, was featured in an Amber Alert earlier this week. According to the alert, which was circulated on behalf of the sheriff’s office in Scott County, VA, the missing baby was last seen on Daniel Boone Rd. in Gate City. Police believed he had been abducted by Ashley Jordan Griffith, a 30-year-old Gate City resident. Griffith was caught with the baby in Kentucky, according to Madison County Sheriff's Office. It was around 5:50 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7, when a call came in for a motorist assist on Battlefield Memorial Highway, Madison Sheriff’s Office reported. 2 Charged with Murder in Norfolk After ‘Homicide’ Ruling for Infant Death

A pair in Norfolk are facing murder charges after the death of a 9-day-old baby, Norfolk Police announced. On Saturday, around 1:15 p.m., NPD was called to the Children’s Hospital of the Kings Daughters for a child protection call. When officers arrived, the baby was already unresponsive and later the infant was pronounced dead, the department stated. Hilary D. Johnson, 23, and Zibreyea S. Parker, 21, were taken into custody and initially charged with child abuse. Then, on May 6, the medical examiner ruled the baby’s death was a homicide. NPD said the charges were upgraded to 2nd degree murder. Both are being held in Norfolk City Jail without bond. A 27-year-old man arrested Saturday is still being held without bond after allegedly initiating a police chase, ramming vehicles, and assaulting a state trooper. According to Virginia State Police, the incident stemmed from motorists on I-81 calling in and reporting a Dodge pickup driving recklessly and someone throwing objects out of the window. A state trooper found the truck heading northbound near the 304-mile marker in Frederick County and attempted to make a traffic stop. VSP said the driver slowed down and merged onto the shoulder. Gloucester man prompts Sheriff to issue shelter-in-place alert

Yesterday, a 32-year-old Gloucester man on the loose prompted the Sheriff’s Office to issue a lockdown alert for people in certain areas of the county. Around 11 a.m. GCSO released a photo of Robert Paul Rosell Jr. stating he was believed to be on foot and considered armed and dangerous. People in the area of Lowneyville Lane and Pinetta Road were asked to shelter in place. Until now, GCSO hasn't provided details about the incident that caused them to hunt for Rosell, but, in an update amid the search, police revealed that Rosell was wanted for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and brandishing a firearm. Gloucester High School went into lockdown Tuesday, and two men were arrested in connection with the incident. According to a statement from Gloucester County Public Schools (GCPS), the lockdown was put in place around 11 a.m. in response to a report of a weapon outside in a construction area. Car trouble in Stafford led to the arrest of a man wanted in Maryland. On Thursday, April 11, First Sergeant N. Zotos was heading south on Richmond Highway near Layhill Rd. when, at around 5:45 a.m., he reportedly saw a car that was leaking fluid. Since the car was disabled in one of the lanes of Richmond Rd., Zotos was concerned about the possibility of an accident and approached the driver, SCSO reported.
