Arrest after I-81 pursuit, cars rammed & trooper gets bit

A 27-year-old man arrested Saturday is still being held without bond after allegedly initiating a police chase, ramming vehicles, and assaulting a state trooper. According to Virginia State Police, the incident stemmed from motorists on I-81 calling in and reporting a Dodge pickup driving recklessly and someone throwing objects out of the window. A state trooper found the truck heading northbound near the 304-mile marker in Frederick County and attempted to make a traffic stop. VSP said the driver slowed down and merged onto the shoulder. But instead of coming to a stop, he took off again sparking the chase on I-81. Gloucester man prompts Sheriff to issue shelter-in-place alert

Yesterday, a 32-year-old Gloucester man on the loose prompted the Sheriff’s Office to issue a lockdown alert for people in certain areas of the county. Around 11 a.m. GCSO released a photo of Robert Paul Rosell Jr. stating he was believed to be on foot and considered armed and dangerous. People in the area of Lowneyville Lane and Pinetta Road were asked to shelter in place. Until now, GCSO hasn't provided details about the incident that caused them to hunt for Rosell, but, in an update amid the search, police revealed that Rosell was wanted for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and brandishing a firearm. Southampton police are looking for 24-year-old Dalveon Ricks of Franklin who is wanted for charges related to an April 4 robbery in Courtland. Police responded to a robbery call in the 25000 block of Oak Trail and found a woman who reported getting robbed in the parking lot of the apartment complex by three men. SCSO said the victim’s purse, credit cards, and cash were stolen. 18-year-old from Virginia Beach arrested for gun at Gloucester High School

Gloucester High School went into lockdown Tuesday, and two men were arrested in connection with the incident. According to a statement from Gloucester County Public Schools (GCPS), the lockdown was put in place around 11 a.m. in response to a report of a weapon outside in a construction area. In addition to the school resources officers, a larger presence from Gloucester County Sheriff’s officers arrived and had the scene secured within minutes, according to GCSO. Car trouble in Stafford led to the arrest of a man wanted in Maryland. On Thursday, April 11, First Sergeant N. Zotos was heading south on Richmond Highway near Layhill Rd. when, at around 5:45 a.m., he reportedly saw a car that was leaking fluid. Since the car was disabled in one of the lanes of Richmond Rd., Zotos was concerned about the possibility of an accident and approached the driver, SCSO reported. No bond for Knoxville man charged with DUI in fatal Frederick County crash

No bond was granted for the Knoxville, TN man charged amid a fatal DUI crash in Frederick County on Monday. Virginia State Police said they responded to the scene on I-81 at the 316 mile marker shortly before 11 p.m. Troopers found a 2018 Toyota Highlander reportedly driven by 54-year-old Kenneth Bireta was traveling north on I-81 when it ran off the left side of the road into the median. The Highlander flipped several time, and when it came to a rest, it was in the southbound lanes, VSP reported.
