VSP Searching for Leads in Fatal Hit-and-Run in Alexandria

At approximately 6:12 a.m. this morning, March 24, Virginia State Police reported getting dispatched for a pedestrian on Interstate 395.  According to VSP, when troopers arrived on the scene, a pedestrian was in the center lane of the northbound side of the interstate dead. The individual was found near the exit for Duke Street. VSP has not released any details about the deceased individual and said they are still working on the identity. Authorities in James City County are searching for a sex offender who cut off his court-ordered ankle monitor and fled. Police say Kevin Lavaughn Christian, 50—who also goes by “Kelvin” and “Squirrel”—is wanted for a probation violation for removing his monitoring device and petit larceny charges. Christian is a registered sex offender, and police warn the situation has escalated due to alarming statements he allegedly made including suggestions that he would rather harm himself than return to jail. Christian also reportedly threatened to commit robberies and have a violent encounter with police. Alexandria Sheriff’s Office announced felony warrants were obtained for 53-year-old Lindolfo Pedraza of Cumberland.
