Plane makes emergency landing on highway in Northern VA

An investigation is underway after a single-engine Cessna 208 Caravan plane made an emergency landing on Loudoun County Parkway in Sterling near Arcola Mills Drive. Virginia State Police reported that it was notified that the emergency landing was occurring at 12:51 p.m. FAA records show the aircraft, owned by Southern Airways Pacific based in Palm Beach, FL, took off only minutes before from Dulles International Airport and was headed to Lancaster, PA, ABC 7 News reported. VSP said the pilot was able to safely land the plane in the roadway without striking any vehicles. Charges filed against teens in Stafford after ‘DUI crash’

Two teens were charged following a “juvenile DUI crash,” Stafford Sheriff’s Office announced. The incident occurred in January 14 at the intersection of Countryside Drive and Stony Hill Road. SCSO said a passerby reported an accident and deputy N.J. Amato responded shortly before 2 a.m. and found a Honda Civic that had crashed into a tree, but there were no occupants at the scene. Amato found empty cans of alcoholic beverages near the vehicle, and while he was investigating an unnamed male came to the scene and reported that his daughter was involved in the crash, SCSO stated. Trailer fire shuts down portion of Rt. 267 in Loudoun County

A portion of Rt. 267 eastbound was shut down for hours today, January 17, due to a trailer fire. Virginia State Police said troopers were dispatched to the scene at 9:22 a.m. A tractor-trailer had pulled over on the right shoulder approaching the Exit 2 ramp for Battlefield Parkway. According to VSP, heavy smoke coming from the rear axle of the trailer prompted the driver to stop. He was able to disconnect the trailer and separate the cab, but the flames spread through the trailer before they could be extinguished. The driver was not injured, VSP reported. Stafford Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies discovered an unlicensed driver, a gun, suspected drugs, and wanted people during one traffic that led to the arrest of four individuals. According to SCSO, it was approximately 11 p.m. on January 10th and Deputy S.T. Myers was on I-95 South near the Warrenton Road exit when he clocked a vehicle traveling 85 mph in a 65 mph zone. After running a check and determining that the registered owner had a suspended driver’s license for DUI, the Sheriff's Office said Myers conducted traffic stop near mile marker 131. Woodbridge man charged in fatal shooting of his wife, police ask for public’s help

Prince William County Police are trying to piece together what happened to cause a Woodbridge man to shoot his wife, and they’re asking for the public’s help. The shooting occurred on January 6. PWPD reported that, at around 5 p.m., its officers were dispatched to an area hospital where 24-year-old Desire Alexandria Buggs had been brought in suffering from a gunshot and later died. From the preliminary investigation, PWPD said they were able to determine that it was her husband, 24-year-old Daniel Okoe Lawson, who brought Buggs to the hospital. Police also recovered what they believe to be the weapon used to shoot Buggs. After additional investigation, PWPD said it was revealed that Lawson was involved in the fatal shooting of his wife. Man in Stafford accused of breaking into 2 businesses by tunneling through the wall

When deputies S.M. Craig and N.D. Fonseca responded to a business alarm at 198 Tyler Von Way, the address of Auto Chiefs, they found not only signs of a break-in there but also at Carplug next door, Stafford County Sheriff’s Office reported. Jerrylee Stacy Adams, a 35-year-old from Romney, WV was found at the scene, according to SCSO. He reportedly told the deputies that he worked for Auto Chiefs and was there to do some drywall work and then was going next door to buy a vehicle. Over 100 firefighters battled a major blaze that started Tuesday at a strip warehouse located at 4407 Wheeler Ave. in Alexandria. At 9:20 p.m. on Tuesday, a fire alarm was reported, but according to a statement from the City, the blaze quickly escalated into a major fire with intense flames ripping through the roof of the building. Wheeler Ave. was shut down in both directions between the 4000-4400 blocks. The 29-year-old Westmoreland County man wanted for murder in Stafford should be considered armed and dangerous, the Sheriff’s Office warned. Darren Jamal Newman is wanted for the fatal shooting of an unnamed 33-year-old from King George. An undercover prostitution investigation in Stafford unfolded into the three investigations that led to the arrest of five people, most of them wanted. And, it all occurred in one night. According to Stafford County Sheriff’s Office, the series of events began with First Sergeant Detective R.J. Grella, head of the Special Investigations Unit, on the prowl for prostitution.
