2 wanted men found, 1 officer flown for treatment after police chase in Stafford

Three men were arrested on Centreport Parkway after a high-speed chase that left a Stafford officer injured. Around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, First Sergeant A.I. Assur saw a wanted suspect in a black Honda Civic on Kings Highway, Stafford County Sheriff stated. But because he was unable to make a traffic stop at that time, he alerted other Stafford officers and Virgina State Police. Deputy J.W. McAlister spotted the car on Richmond Highway and attempted to make a traffic stop, but the car took off at a high rate of speed and went onto I-95 North, SCSO reported. Arrests made for string of business and church burglaries in Herndon, pair suspected incidents

Herndon Police Department announced two arrests for a string of burglaries and larcenies. On July 12, Herndon PD announced a church was broken into twice over the span of a couple days. Surveillance images of two suspects were released, and police urged anyone with information or who could identify the males to reach out. This week, Herndon PD expressed gratitude to the community noting that the surveillance images helped identify “the offenders” and once they were identified police were able to locate them. US Marshals catch murder suspect 8 months after Prince William shooting

The US Marshals Service caught the Fredericksburg man who was wanted in Prince William for the murder of 26-year-old Quatrail Raynard Smalls of Big Stone Gap. As  previously reported, on November 14, Prince William County Police found Smalls shot in the 3700 block of Wharf Lane in Triangle. He survived the trip to the hospital but later died. The following day, PWCPD announced Tyus James Terrell, a 27-year-old Fredericksburg man, as the suspect. After over a week  of fruitless attempts to find him, the department announced a $5,000 reward. On January 3, PWCPD doubled the reward, but still there was no Terrell until this week. Grocery giants Kroger and Albertsons are trying to get approval for a merger. To address antitrust concerns raised by state and federal regulators, the companies agreed to sell assets to C&S Wholesale Grocers, the parent company of Piggly Wiggly. On Tuesday, the companies revealed which stores, plants, and distribution centers are in the divestment plan. There are 579 stores to be sold across 19 states, including three Harris Teeter locations in Northern Virginia at: 735 N Saint Asaph St., Alexandria 2425 N Harrison St., Arlington 105 Purcellville Gateway Dr, Purcellville These are the only assets in Virginia that are slated to be divested as part of this deal. Leesburg man stopped for public intoxication hit with drug & gun charges

Appearing to be intoxicated landed a Leesburg man in jail facing several drug and gun charges. According to Leesburg Police Department, officers were in the 75 Plaza Street NE area at around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday conducting foot patrol when they encountered 28-year-old Nicholas T. Roach, who “appeared to be under the influence.” LPD said Roach was placed under arrest for public intoxication. 3 shot in Leesburg, Sterling man arrested

One arrest has been made for the Thursday evening shooting that sent three men to the hospital, Leesburg Police Department announced. It was around 7:48 p.m. yesterday when LPD responded to the 800 block of Edwards Ferry Rd. and found three men with gunshot wounds. All were transported to the hospital with injuries LPD described as non-life-threatening. This afternoon, as police were investigating, a report came in that individuals involved in the shooting were back in the 800 block of Edwards Ferry Rd. LPD said officers responded and detained two individuals. So far, Sylvanus Massaquoi,  a 19-year-old Sterling resident, has been arrested and charged with aggravated malicious wounding. Stafford man charged with 8th DUI & child endangerment

A crash resulted in the arrest of a 68-year-old Stafford man who was hit with a list of charges including his 8th DUI. On Tuesday, shortly before 9 p.m., Stafford deputy S.A. Edwards was dispatched to an area near Warrenton and Poplar roads where there was an accident involving a Fauquier County Ambulance and a Chevy Tahoe. The Tahoe was driven by Homer Calvin Maxey who had “bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and admitted to consuming two twelve-ounce beers prior to driving,” SCSO reported. In the vehicle, police reportedly found four empty beer cans and a 9-year-old in the back seat without a seatbelt. The child was not injured and was turned over to a family member, SCSO stated. Stafford man convicted for gun on YouTube, sentenced for another federal gun charge

At only 27 years old, Najee Lewis, aka Bebo, of Stafford was hit with another federal prison sentence today. In 2014, Prince William Circuit Court sentenced Lewis for two robberies committed two days apart. Seven years of his 10-year sentence was suspended, and he was released in May 2018, court records show. Less than four months after his release for the robbery charges, Lewis was caught with a 9mm Ruger displayed in a music video on YouTube, That firearm was reported stolen in 2018 and was recovered in October 2019, documents from the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia (EDVA) show. Virginia ABC is holding a grand opening ceremony today, May 29, for its new store at 825 S. Washington St. in Alexandria. This new VA ABC location, Store 119, is in the South Washington Street Shopping Center. According to the Authority, it’s 3,700-square-foot store and will offer more than 1,500 different products. Store 119 hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. Murder suspect in fatal Prince George’s MD shooting arrested in Northern VA

A 22-year-old Stafford man who was wanted for murder charges in Maryland was arrested yesterday in a joint operation between Stafford County Sheriff's Office and Prince George's County Police Department's Fugitive Unit. On Sunday, May 19, at around 1:45 a.m., PGPD said its officers responded to a shopping center parking lot in the 6400 block of Marlboro Pike where there was a car meet. The officers found 26-year-old John Phipps of Waldorf, MD in a vehicle suffering from gunshots. He was pronounced dead a short time later, PGPD stated. Another unnamed man was also shot, but his injuries were not considered life threatening, the department added.
