Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC) announced there were three arrests and nine denied visits amid an “intensive interdiction operation” at Indian Creek Correctional Center in Chesapeake.
Yesterday, VADOC revealed that, on March 30, they partnered with Virginia State Police and Chesapeake Police Department for an intensive operation to screen visitors for drugs and other contraband.
Items found during the searches, include drugs, drug paraphernalia, alcohol, syringes, and three handguns, VADOC stated.
In addition to those who were turned away, those arrested include a Virginia Beach woman, 32-year-old Brittney Salley, who reportedly turned up at the facility although she hadn’t shown up in court and had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear, VADOC noted.
Salley was also charged with having altered license plates and expired registration.
Calli McGinnis, a 30-year-old from Roanoke, is allegedly one of the gun-toters. She is facing a list of charges, including drug possession, attempted delivery of drugs to a prisoner, carrying a concealed weapon, and carrying a weapon while in possession of drugs.
Meanwhile, 34-year-old James Campbell of Hayes, reportedly ending up sparking a police chase. According to VADOC, he left the facility speeding but refused to comply with police attempts to make a traffic stop.
He is facing charges for drug possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, DWI: drugs, refusal to take a blood test, driving on a revoked or suspended license, and failure to yield.
