Virginia Beach Police shoot & charge teen with fake gun
An 18-year-old has been hospitalized and is in critical condition after being shot by Virginia Beach Police.
According to the Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD), officers were dispatched to the 4600 block of Honeygrove Rd. on June 4 at approximately 8:41 a.m. after an individual reported that someone had pointed a gun at them.
Officers located the suspect, later identified as Shaun Marlar of Virginia Beach, who was armed with a handgun, VBPD announced.

The department stated that responding officers ordered Marlar to drop the weapon. Instead, he pointed the pistol at the officers, who then fired and shot him.
VBPD reported that the recovered handgun was "a replica."
