What began as an arson investigation in Mathews County evolved into a double homicide probe, following a deadly house fire on Friday, July 11, that claimed two lives and led to the arrest of two suspects. Virginia State Police found and arrested the man who escaped from Eastern State mental hospital. Glenn Large, Jr., a 50-year-old Williamsburg man, escaped on the morning of July 5 after climbing over the fence that surrounds the perimeter of the hospital, VSP said.
