VSP explains how dump truck crashed over side of I-664 overpass in Suffolk

Although the investigation is still underway, Virginia State Police provided details about how a dump truck went off an I-664 overpass in Suffolk and crashed down on Bridge Rd. At around 11:30 a.m., 20-year-old William Carl Moore was driving an unloaded Western Star dump truck northbound on I-664. A tire exploded causing Moore to lose control, and he ran off the road and hit the jersey wall, VSP said. Fredericksburg Police Dept. got an unlikely break in a 2017 investigation. The Rappahannock Canal was drained recently, and on April 27, a firearm was uncovered in the drained section, FPD said. The gun was rusted, heavily damaged, and the serial number was “deliberately obliterated.” Detectives Mejia and Dobson went to work examining the gun and used advanced restoration techniques to recover the serial number.
