I-95 S lane closures in Dale City tonight

Drivers planning to use I-95 in Dale City tonight take note that lane closures are scheduled in the southbound general purpose lanes. Delays are expected as a result. The closure is planned from around the 155 mile marker between Cardinal Drive and the Dale City Truck Only Safety Rest Area South. No bond for Knoxville man charged with DUI in fatal Frederick County crash

No bond was granted for the Knoxville, TN man charged amid a fatal DUI crash in Frederick County on Monday. Virginia State Police said they responded to the scene on I-81 at the 316 mile marker shortly before 11 p.m. Troopers found a 2018 Toyota Highlander reportedly driven by 54-year-old Kenneth Bireta was traveling north on I-81 when it ran off the left side of the road into the median. The Highlander flipped several time, and when it came to a rest, it was in the southbound lanes, VSP reported. A 2019 Nissan Rogue that was heading southbound collided with the Highlander, and the driver of the Rogue, 60-year-old William F. Allison of Martinsburg, WV died at the scene. Truck driver killed in hit-and-run on I-81 in Shenandoah, VSP wants info

Virginia State Police is seeking information related to a hit-and-run that killed a truck driver in Shenandoah County. According to VSP, James W. Carr, Jr. a 64-year-old Alton, NH man was hit by an unknown vehicle on Saturday, March 23, on I-81 at the 296-mile marker. Police say the crash occurred between 5:00 – 8:12 a.m. Carr was a pedestrian and was in the roadway when he was hit by a northbound vehicle that didn’t stop. VSP has not provided any explanation for why Carr in the road. From the investigation, VSP determined that Carr had been driving a red 2022 Freightliner Cascadia tractor-trailer with Crete Carrier Corp. on the sides. Newport News woman has fatal crash at scene of another crash

A 25-year-old Newport News woman died after crashing at the scene of a crash on I-64 in James City County. Shortly before 3 a.m. on Sunday, Virginia State Police said called started coming in reporting an older model Toyota was driving the wrong way in the I-64 eastbound lanes and was near the 227 mile marker. By the time troopers located the Toyota, it had run off the road and hit a guardrail. VSP reported that the unnamed driver was intoxicated. Virginia’s traffic-related death toll rises amid numerous fatal crashes within days

Fatal crashes in Virginia are stacking up, and reports continue rolling in of the numerous deadly incidents that occurred in recent days. As previously reported, on Sunday, two pedestrians were killed in separate incidents in Fairfax near the same exit. Brunswick truck crash VSP reported that, on Friday, around 9:30 a.m. 52-year-old John Oliver Harrison of Lawrenceville was headed north on Rt. 46 in Brunswick County. He was near Woodley Ave. in a tractor-trailer loaded with lumber. Harrison reportedly ran off the road and struck a group of trees. The decision of a witness at a crash scene resulted in him being involved in a crash with a Virginia State trooper, VSP reported. On Sunday, March 10, shortly before 1 a.m. an unnamed trooper was responding to a call involving an overturned vehicle crash on I-464 west near Military Highway and Freeman Ave. in Portsmouth. According to VSP, the trooper’s lights and siren was activated. As the trooper entered onto I-464 from the Military Highway on-ramp, a 2018 Honda Accord was stopped in the travel lane, and the trooper rear-ended it, VSP reported. C. 2 pedestrians killed on I-495 in Fairfax in separate incidents

Virginia State Police were dispatched to two fatal pedestrian crashes in Fairfax County today within a half-hour. The incidents were in close proximity but are unrelated, police say. Incident #1 The call for the first incident came in at 3:39 a.m. VSP said, at present, it appears that the unnamed individual was on the shoulder of the westbound lanes of I-495 east of Exit 176 changing a tire and got hit by a truck. The individual changing the tire died at the scene. The unnamed driver of the truck was transported to the hospital. Investigation underway for fatal single-vehicle crash in York County

Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal, single-vehicle crash in York County that occurred on Friday afternoon. At around 4:30 p.m. VSP troopers responded to the 3000 block of Goodwin Neck Road, which is north of Back Creek Park. Based on preliminary investigations, VSP determined that 30-year-old Aaron Eli Hoopingarner of Yorktown. was traveling northbound on Goodwin Neck Road. He got into the southbound lanes to attempt to pass two vehicles but he ran off the road and hit a traffic sign. 2 roads in King William have reopened

VDOT announced the completion of two projects this week in King William that allowed roadways to reopen. Jacks Creek Rd. On Monday, VDOT reopened the closed portion of Rt. 629 (Jacks Creek Road). Construction began last August to install a new concrete box culvert was installed to replace the original structure, which consisted of three corrugated metal drainage pipes built in 1943. Although this project is complete, VDOT advises drivers to expect rough ride with loose gravel. Crews are slated to return in mid-March to pave. Bridge over Herring Creek Herring Creek Rd.
