Augusta Sgt. arrested, charges stem from case of hospitalized suspect

An Augusta County deputy, Sgt. William Mikolay, was arrested and charged for offenses that occurred amid a September 29 police chase that ended with the suspect hospitalized. Sheriff Donald Smith’s Office released a statement about the September 29th pursuit after it happened explaining that it was about 3:30 a.m. and an unnamed deputy was on patrol near Three Notched Mountain Hwy. A black Infinity “caught the attention of the Deputy as being the vehicle involved with multiple pursuits over the past several weeks with The Virginia State Police and numerous other law enforcement agencies.” The deputy ran the registration, which allegedly came back to a different vehicle. Rishon Winkler, the 20-year-old Baltimore man accused in the previously reported fatal stabbing on Browns Store Rd. last Saturday was caught within miles of the crime scene, according to an update from Northumberland Sheriff’s Office. When dispatch received the report of a stabbing in the 2700 block of Browns Store Rd., deputies arrived within minutes, NCSO reported. Fredericksburg man wanted for murder in Prince William

Tyrus James Terrell, a 27-year-old Fredericksburg resident, is wanted for the murder of Quatrail R. Smalls of Big Stone Gap, Prince William Police Department announced. On Tuesday, Nov. 14, at around 8:40 p.m., police responded to the 3700 block of Wharf Ln. in Triangle to investigate a shooting and reported finding Smalls lying on the ground. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots in the area where the 26-year-old was shot, the Police Department stated. Abduction call leads to Loudoun-Fairfax police chase

A Leesburg man is facing a list of charges in Loudoun and Fairfax after an abduction call led to a police chase went from Ashburn to the Tysons Corner area. On Oct. 30, just before 2 p.m., Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office said a citizen called and reported what was believed to be an abduction in progress. When deputies arrived, the suspect drove away in a black Hummer and headed north on Loudoun County Parkway. Debra Kay Shaffer’s involvement in a white-collar drug conspiracy earned her less than a week of jailtime. Under a plea bargain, Shaffer, a 71-year-old New Castle woman, pled guilty to one count of using the DEA Registration number of another for prescribing substances. An XDEA number is a unique identifier assigned to a medical provider who is approved to prescribe buprenorphine for opioid addition. In court documents, Shaffer admitted that while she was working as a nurse practitioner for L5 Medical, which operated a chain of pain clinics, she would use the XDEA number of doctors associated the clinics to write prescriptions for Suboxone under their name.
