2 Fatal Crashes in 2 Days in Spotsylvania

Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two separate fatal crashes that occurred within a 2-day span. Pedestrian Killed on Patriot Highway In the early hours of Tuesday, August 5, deputies responded to a tragic incident in the 10400 block of Patriot Highway, where a pedestrian was struck by a northbound vehicle. The crash occurred around 2:55 a.m. in an unlit section of the roadway. According to SCSO, two adult males attempted to cross the highway wearing dark clothing. One stopped midway, while the other continued into the path of oncoming traffic and he was hit. VSP explains how dump truck crashed over side of I-664 overpass in Suffolk

Although the investigation is still underway, Virginia State Police provided details about how a dump truck went off an I-664 overpass in Suffolk and crashed down on Bridge Rd. At around 11:30 a.m., 20-year-old William Carl Moore was driving an unloaded Western Star dump truck northbound on I-664. A tire exploded causing Moore to lose control, and he ran off the road and hit the jersey wall, VSP said.
