5 stabbed at Spotsy car meet, 1 arrest

A 19-year-old from Fredericksburg is being held without bond at Rappahannock Regional Jail after five people were stabbed at an unorganized, unpermitted car meet. Early on Sunday, July 20, Spotsylvania deputies were dispatched to the 4800 block of Southpoint Parkway for a report of a stabbing. Some of the stabbing victims had already made their way to the hospital but several were still at the scene. Missing Maryland woman found in river in Northumberland, VA

The body of a 79-year-old Maryland woman was found in the river in Northumberland, according to the Sheriff’s Office Louise Cox, of Prince George’s County had been reported missing. Her missing poster stated she was last seen on Saturday, July 12, in the evening at Rivertowne Shopping Center in Oxon Hill. The vehicle associated with her was a black 2014 Honda Accord. Northumberland Sheriff’s Office reported that its deputies were called to Ferry Road on Monday morning, July 14, for an unattended vehicle. On Sunday evening, July 13, a 29-year-old woman was riding on the passenger side of Steven Chapman’s blue Honda Civic. As they were heading west on I-64 near exit 284A, the I-264 Interchange, in Norfolk a trailer hitch came crashing through the windshield and hit the Newport News woman in the face. Dwayne Newman, of Colonial Beach, has been charged for shooting Eric Fauntleroy on Saturday, July 12, during an event called Nanu’s Bikefest. Virginia State Police found and arrested the man who escaped from Eastern State mental hospital. Glenn Large, Jr., a 50-year-old Williamsburg man, escaped on the morning of July 5 after climbing over the fence that surrounds the perimeter of the hospital, VSP said. Large has a lengthy history of legal run-ins, including a 1989 murder conviction in Virginia Beach. He was committed to Eastern State after being found not guilty by reason of insanity in 2022 for attempted malicious wounding, indecent exposure, and disorderly conduct charges. Leesburg Police searching for man who assaulted woman on W&OD Trail

Leesburg Police are searching for a man who reportedly assaulted a woman on the Washington & Old Dominion (W&OD) Trail Thursday afternoon. The victim was out running and was on the trail near Rhonda Place SE when she passed an unknown man. When she came back past that area, the man threw a rock and hit her in the back of the head, police say.
