What started as a routine traffic stop on Route 460 turned into a high-octane pursuit through Sussex County and into Petersburg, ending with a major crash and multiple arrests. Early Wednesday, June 18, a Virginia State Police trooper tried to pull over a 2006 Honda Element for speeding—clocked at 78 mph in a 55 zone. But instead of stopping, the driver hit the gas. The chase that followed pushed speeds past 100 mph before it came to a chaotic end at Winfield Road and South Crater Road in Petersburg. The Honda struck a road sign and slammed into a Pepsi truck. Henrico Police announced the 2nd arrest linked to the fatal March 22 hit-and-run crash at the intersection of Airport Drive and Audubon Drive. What allegedly began as a high-speed chase in New Kent ended with the crash in Henrico claiming the life Luis Fernando Cac Caal, 29, of Sandston. On the evening of May 19, Samarion Ty’shon Seymour, 20, of Norfolk, turned himself into the Petersburg Bureau of Police. During the course of the investigation, Henrico Police and investigators from the New Kent County Sheriff’s Office determined Seymour was the driver of the Cadillac CTS that crashed killing Cac Caal.
